Family.
I've been thinking about the beautiful simplicity, and may I add chaos, that comes along with that six letter word.Family.
For now, I'll emphasize the simplicity and beauty of families.
I find it so remarkable that every day is met with little happenings that shape us. We are so imperfect. But being imperfect is one of the greatest blessings, to some extent. Everyday contains it's scars, marks and stains. It has it's drama, excitement, tears and peace.
Everyday is full of lessons, and as I have reflected on the life that I have been given, I have realized how special each of those imperfections is.
I think we, as humans, well most of us at least, tend to want everything to be perfect. My first impulse when Kamden got this cherry red slurpee all over her lips, was to wipe it away and tell her to be careful. Looking at this photo now however, I love those red stained lips. It was one of her various marks throughout the day. It was a mark that reflected her day, as well as who she is.
Stains are imperfect. Stains are a beautiful thing.
Last week, Kelsen was being taken to school. He had been "extremely sick" and could not go to school due to some odd deathly illness he possessed. Of course my mother would have to crush his wildest dreams and send him on his way to school. Upon close inspection, one would discover that this boy has chocolate all over his cheeks and mouth. When I uploaded this photo, my first thought was how ridiculous I was to take a photo when he had chocolate on his cheeks.
Looking at it now though, I love those chocolated-up cheeks. This was Kelsen's mark of the day. This photo shows who he is. Years from now I can look back on this photo and remember how messy and spunky this kid is.
Marks are imperfect. Marks are a beautiful thing.
Dedication and persistance are something that creates a family. How beautiful is this photo! It seems perfectly simple and may be deemed trivial to many. But look at the stern, persistent hands that are striving to follow their siblings.
Every family member can build off of another and if that is the case, that beautiful six letter word is forming evermore.
Family.
This family is created and molded by the scars, stains and marks of our everyday.
What a beautiful thing.
Family.
